PenaltyNone· under Rule 11.1

What to do

  1. 1Confirm the contact was accidental, not deliberate.
  2. 2No penalty applies — play the ball as it lies from wherever it stops.
  3. 3If it ends up unplayable, you can still use unplayable-ball relief separately.

Based on the modern Rules of Golf (Rule 11.1), as published by the USGA and The R&A and effective from the 2019 revision. Local rules can modify some situations — check the scorecard or with the committee when in doubt.
