Angle of attack in practice
Hitting up on the driver with a positive angle of attack — a technique popularized by long-drive competitors and modern tour pros alike — increases launch angle while lowering spin for extra distance. Irons, by contrast, are struck with a descending angle of attack to compress the ball and take a divot after impact.
