Hole-out in practice
Commentators often say a player “holed out from the fairway” when describing a chip-in or eagle from distance, a phrase that emphasizes the shot went straight in rather than trickling close. Holing out is also required to officially finish a hole in stroke play — tapping in still counts as holing out.
