Greenside Proximity

How it works

Every shot hit from just off the green is measured for the distance it finishes from the hole, and those distances are averaged, often split by lie type such as rough, fringe, or sand. A lower number means shots consistently leave short, makeable putts rather than long ones.

What's a good Greenside Proximity?

Tour players average greenside proximity around 6-8 feet on standard chips and pitches. Amateurs commonly average well over 10-15 feet, and closing that gap — mostly through better contact rather than technique alone — is usually the fastest way to raise a scrambling percentage.
