What to do
- 1Only exchange swing thoughts or strategy with your partner or your own caddie.
- 2Public information, like yardages or where hazards are, is always fine to ask about.
- 3If advice is improperly given or received, both players involved take the penalty.
Based on the modern Rules of Golf (Rule 10.2a), as published by the USGA and The R&A and effective from the 2019 revision. Local rules can modify some situations — check the scorecard or with the committee when in doubt.
