What to do
- 1Find your nearest point of complete relief (not nearer the hole) where the path no longer interferes.
- 2Mark that point; your relief area is one club-length from it, no nearer the hole.
- 3Drop the ball from knee height within that area.
- 4Play on with no penalty.
Based on the modern Rules of Golf (Rule 16), as published by the USGA and The R&A and effective from the 2019 revision. Local rules can modify some situations — check the scorecard or with the committee when in doubt.
