What to do
- 1Identify the object as movable (you can lift it without unreasonable effort).
- 2Move it out of the way, or lift your ball, move the object, then replace the ball.
- 3If the ball moves during removal, replace it on its original spot with no penalty.
Based on the modern Rules of Golf (Rule 15.2), as published by the USGA and The R&A and effective from the 2019 revision. Local rules can modify some situations — check the scorecard or with the committee when in doubt.
