Putts per GIR
How it works
Only holes marked as greens in regulation are included; the putts on those holes are summed and divided by the number of GIR holes. A lower number means a player converts more regulation looks into one-putts rather than needing two or three putts to finish.
What's a good Putts per GIR?
PGA Tour players average close to 1.7-1.8 putts per GIR. Amateurs are typically in the 1.9-2.0 range, and because this stat controls for approach play, it’s one of the more reliable ways to compare putting ability across players with very different ball-striking.
