Driving Accuracy
How it works
Every eligible tee shot is marked fairway-hit or missed, and the count of hits is divided by total attempts to produce a percentage. It says nothing about how far off line a miss was or what it cost, which is why strokes gained off the tee is considered a more complete driving metric.
What's a good Driving Accuracy?
PGA Tour players average around 60-65 percent driving accuracy, trading some accuracy for distance given tour-level rough. Amateurs vary widely, often in the 40-55 percent range, and accuracy tends to matter more on tight, tree-lined courses than on wide-open layouts.
