How it works
Measuring devices or ShotLink lasers record the carry-plus-roll distance of tee shots on holes selected for measurement, and those are averaged across a round or season. Elevation, wind, altitude, and turf firmness all affect the number, which is why tour averages shift course to course.
What's a good Driving Distance?
PGA Tour average driving distance sits around 300 yards, with the longest hitters averaging over 320. Recreational male golfers average roughly 220-230 yards, and distance alone doesn’t predict scoring — pairing it with accuracy and strokes gained off the tee gives a fuller picture.
